Dr Syed Moin Ali, MBBS, MHPE, PhD (Scholar)
Dr Syed Moin Ali got his initial exposure to medical education when he attended a six-week course on PBL at Maastricht University in 1995. He used this to develop Pakistan’s first integrated PBL curriculum for Baqai Medical College. In 2000, he joined the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) in the Department of Medical Education (DME). In 2003, he completed his MHPE from Maastricht University.
At the CPSP, he helped various faculties design and implement postgraduate programs. He designed and conducted workshops for postgraduate supervisors. Under this program, he trained supervisors in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Saudi Arabia. He developed and conducted the first Diploma course in the sub-continent in Health Professions Education. In 2005, Dr Moin was appointed as Director of DME, College of Medicine, Taif University, Saudi Arabia. He designed Saudi Arabia’s first clinical presentation based, integrated curriculum.
In 2009, Dr Moin started Pakistan’s first Masters programme in Health Professions Education at Dow University Karachi. This was the first MHPE program to be recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.
Dr Moin has recently returned permanently to Pakistan and is working as Director, Department of Medical Education at Jinnah Sindh Medical University, Karachi.
