The Association for Medical Education in the Western Pacific Region (AMEWPR, http://wfme.org/about/member-associations/amewpr), working with the country and regional offices of WHO, visited Vietnam in January 2016 for consultation on medical education reform, the quality assurance framework for medical education, and medical regulation. The Executive Council of WFME agreed, at its meeting in Istanbul in April 2014, to endorse the student exchange programmes that have been managed by the International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations continuously since 1951. The Executive Council agreed that these programmes are very professionally organised, with good academic outcomes, and are commended to medical schools world-wide.
The Executive Council renewed that endorsement at its meeting in Cairo in March 2015.
The Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) in cooperation with Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) have been awarded the Recognition Stats by the World Federation of Medical Education.
The Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Medical Education (TEPDAD – Tıp Eğitimi Değerlendirme ve Akreditasyon Derneği), operating in Turkey, is the second agency to be awarded the Recognition Status by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). The Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP) has been awarded Recognition Status by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). CAAM-HP accredits medical schools in the Countries of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
Stefan Lindgren and David Gordon attended this network meeting on medical education, held in Turkmenistan.
