Dr. Débora H. Silva Díaz is a tenured professor of pediatrics at the Department of Pediatrics of the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine (UPR-SoM) and an attending physician of pediatric hospital medicine at the University Pediatric Hospital of Puerto Rico. She is board certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
Dr. Silva Díaz completed a BA in clinical psychology at Tufts University, an MD and general pediatrics residency program at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, a post-doctoral fellowship in primary care faculty development, curriculum development track, at Michigan State University, and a master’s in education, with special emphasis on health professions education, at the University of Cincinnati.
At the Department of Pediatrics, she has served as the General Pediatrics Section Chief and Clinical Competency Committee Chair. At the UPR-SoM, she was director of the Clinical Skills Program, Curriculum Office, Faculty Development Program, and Office of Accreditation, in this position she served as the faculty accreditation lead for the last reaccreditation visit of the Liaison Commission on Medical Education (LCME) in 2017; and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. She is the past Interim Dean for Academic Affairs of the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus. She has served as a team member for accreditation visits for multiple agencies and as a consultant, locally, nationally, and internationally, in accreditation processes, teaching and assessment skills, and curricular development and revision.
Dr. Silva Díaz is a member of the Board of Directors of the Panamerican Federation of Associations of Medical Schools since 2016. She has been recognized for her work as a leader and educator by the American Medical Association, the Association of American Medical Colleges, the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics, Puerto Rico Chapter among others.
