Julio César Gómez Fernández, has worked at Westhill University for 24 years, where he has been the Director of the Faculty of Medicine and Professor of Anatomy. He has held various other positions, and he is currently the General Academic and Liaison Director.
He has a specialization in Surgery, a Master’s in education, a Master’s in Hospital Administration, a PhD in Hospital Administration and a PhD in Institutional Management and Innovation. He is currently studying for a Master’s in Educational Inclusion.
He is a former President of the Mexican Association of Medical Schools and Faculties (AMFEM). He has also previously held the following roles in the same association: Vice President, First Officer (on two occasions), Second Officer (on two occasions), and was a member of the Planning Committee for more than 10 years. He was the General Coordinator of 6 International Medical Education Congresses.
In the Mexican Council for the Accreditation of Medical Education (COMAEM), and since 2010, he has participated in several verification visits, on some occasions as a Peer Verifier of the National Accreditation System of Medical Education, and on others as team secretary. He served as AMFEM Representative during the biennium 2017-2019 and as Spokesman for Private Schools and Faculties in the periods 2016-2018 and 2018-2020. He currently serves as a Member of the Regulations Committee and sits on the Internationalization Committee.
He has been a member of the Technical Council of the General Entrance Examination for the Bachelor’s Degree in General Medicine (EGEL-MEDI) of the National Evaluation Centre for Higher Education (CENEVAL).
He was an advisor at the Panamerican Federation of Association of American Schools (FEPAFEM-PAFAMS) from 2019 to 2022, and will continue in this role for the 2022-2025 triennium.
For six years, he served on the Subcommittee for Continuing Medical Education of the National Regulatory Committee for General Medicine (CONAMEGE).
He is the author of several articles related to medical research. He has given many lectures at national and international congresses and meetings.
