
Elena I. Barragán, MD PhD Maastricht MHPE, has a background as a medical researcher in Neurosciences doing her medical and doctoral training in Argentina, and her post-doctoral training at MIT, USA. In the last two decades, she entered in the field of medical education through a FAIMER´S fellowship and an IFME Maastricht MHPE fellowship and was part since 2005 of the Instructor´s teams at FAIMER Institute (Philadelphia, Brazil and now Chile).
Dr Barragán is part of the pool of advisers and evaluators at MERCOSUR and CONEAU (National Accreditation agency in Argentina and South America). She is an author of the Module 8: Non regulatory approaches to quality assurance in Medical Education, of the Theme 1: Self review and accreditation, Distance Learning for Medical Education at the FAIMER Centre for Distance Learning
She is currently a Basic Science´s Professor at two Universities in Argentina (Medical School at Comahue University and Dental School at University of Rio Negro). She serves, at present, as Research Secretary at the National University of Rio Negro, in Patagonia, Argentina having experience in Basic Sciences, Bioethics, and Health Sciences Educational Research fields, as well as innovative medical education projects.
