Claire de Burbure died on 22 July 2020.
She was an adviser to WFME from 2015, working in many areas – on the World Directory of Medical Schools, supporting our interaction with WHO, helping with links to Francophone countries world-wide, and contributing to the next edition of the WFME standards for basic medical education.
After her medical degree from the University of Cambridge, and doctorate from the Université catholique de Louvain, her career included work in in environmental toxicology, histopathology, international medical education and medical writing; and as well her contributions to WFME, she worked with WHO and UNESCO.
Claire will be sadly missed, as a person of great charm, energy, fortitude and goodness. WFME extends its sympathy to her husband Richard and all her family.
