Geneviève Moineau elected as next Vice-President of WFME

December 5, 2022

The World Federation for Medical Education is very pleased to announce that Geneviève Moineau has been elected as the next Vice-President of WFME.  She will take office in January 2023 simultaneously with the new President, Ricardo León-Bórquez, for an initial four-year term.

Professor Moineau has worked closely with WFME for many years, as an assessor in the Recognition of Accreditation Programme, as the chair of several assessment teams, and as a lead speaker at the WFME Conference in Seoul in 2019.

She is President and CEO of the Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada (AFMC), where she has been influential in developing and delivering policies that have enhanced the breadth of medical education in Canada, and its relevance to society and to the delivery of health care.  She has had a long association with the accreditation of medical education in Canada, including being past Secretary for the Committee on the Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS).  She has also been Vice-President of the Pan-American Federation of Associations of Medical Schools (PAFAMS).

Professor Moineau is an MD graduate of the University of Ottawa and completed her Pediatric Residency at the University of Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children. She is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine at the University of Ottawa and practices Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
