1. Expression of Interest
Accrediting agencies interested in obtaining WFME CPD Recognition must first express interest by contacting the WFME.
2. Preliminary Application
After expressing interest, a preliminary application template will be sent to the accrediting agency by the WFME. The completed preliminary application must be returned for review. The WFME verifies the preliminary application for completeness. If incomplete, the WFME will follow up with the accrediting agency.
3. Eligibility Review by Recognition Committee
The WFME CPD Recognition Committee will review the preliminary application based on eligibility Criteria 1.1 and 1.2 and make determination. If eligibility is confirmed, the applicant is informed, and a full application template is sent.
4. Submission of Full Application
The completed full application must be submitted to the WFME. The WFME verifies it for completeness and may request additional documentation.
5. Formation of the Recognition Team
A Recognition Team of three members (one chair, one member and one secretary) is nominated by the WFME. The agency has the opportunity to review the proposed team to avoid conflicts of interest.
6. Full Application Review
The Recognition Team thoroughly reviews the full application. A preliminary meeting of the Recognition Team is held, supported by the WFME, to discuss initial findings and draft questions for the agency.
7. Meeting Between the Recognition Team and the Accrediting Agency
WFME organises a two-hour meeting between the assessors and the accrediting agency.
8. Preparation of the Recognition Report
Following the meeting, the Recognition Team prepares a report detailing their findings. The WFME reviews the draft report and sends it to the accrediting agency for a review of factual errors or omissions. The agency has 30 days to provide feedback.
9. Finalisation of the Report
The Recognition Team finalises the report after reviewing the accrediting agency’s feedback.
10. Decision-Making Meeting
WFME arranges an online meeting of the WFME CPD Recognition Committee to discuss and decide on the recognition status of the agency.
11. Final Decision and Communication
WFME communicates the final decision to the accrediting agency. Should they be granted the Recognition Status, WFME issues a recognition certificate, and publishes the decision on the WFME website.
