Executive Council Convenes Alongside WFME World Conference 2025
On 28 and 29 May 2025, the WFME Executive Council held its annual in-person spring meeting in Bangkok, to coincide with the WFME World Conference. The Council provides strategic oversight and direction for the organisation, typically meeting twice yearly—face-to-face in spring and virtually in autumn.
Shaping the Future of WFME Standards
The two-day gathering began with a dedicated Retreat on WFME Standards, which aimed to shape the future direction of WFME’s standards across the continuum of:
- Basic Medical Education (BME)
- Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME)
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Council members were joined by representatives from global organisations, drawing on their regional perspectives and subject-matter expertise.
Formal Sessions and Governance Updates
Following the Retreat, the Executive Council moved into formal proceedings that included:
- Finance and Risk Committee updates: review of FY24 performance, risk mitigations and 2025 budget projections.
- Regional Updates: Insights from Council members on their organisations’ regional activities.
- Approval of of Recognition Programme Policies and Procedures and PGME Committee chair nominations.
- Reflections on the WFME World Conference 2025: highlights, impact and lessons learned.
The next in-person Executive Council meeting will be held in spring 2026. Details will be confirmed later this year.
