Phishing Alert – Please Read Carefully

This week, we have observed scam activity involving misuse of the WFME identity.

If you receive a suspicious email, please contact WFME only via the official email addresses listed on our website. Do not use any contact details provided in the suspicious message.

Important Reminders:
  • Do not respond to requests if you cannot verify the sender’s authenticity.
  • Email addresses and phone numbers alone do not guarantee legitimacy.
  • Do not disclose any additional information, including names of individuals or organisations.
  • If you feel compelled to assist, verify authenticity through an independent channel – not one mentioned in the suspicious message.
Please read below for guidance on recognising and responding to phishing attempts.

How to Recognise a Phishing Email

  • Suspicious sender details: The email address or name may not match the organisation they claim to represent.
  • Urgent requests: Scammers often create a sense of urgency to pressure you into acting quickly.
  • Requests for personal or financial information: Legitimate organisations will not ask for passwords or financial details via email.
  • Unexpected attachments: Never open attachments from unknown or unexpected sources.
  • Poor grammar and spelling: Watch for errors or low-quality formatting.
  • Suspicious links: Hover over links to preview the URL If it doesn’t match the text, it may be fraudulent.

What to Do if You Receive a Phishing Email

  1. Do not engage: Avoid replying, clicking links, or opening attachments.
  2. Report it: Mark the email as spam/junk and notify your IT department or email provider.
  3. Verify independently: Use contact details from the organisation’s official website – not from the email.
  4. Change passwords: If you have interacted with the email, update your passwords immediately.
  5. Keep software updated: Ensure your operating system and web browsers are current.
