Join us for an insightful webinar series exploring the revision of the WFME Standards for Postgraduate Medical Education (2023). The webinar will be led by Professor Janet Grant, an expert in standards and the driving force behind the development of the current WFME standards portfolio, including standards for basic and postgraduate medical education, continuing professional development, and Standards for Distributed and Distance Learning (2021).
The series will provide a practical guide to the WFME PGME Standards, with a special emphasis on local versioning and implementation. Each session will showcase guest speakers who are experienced medical education professionals, offering firsthand insights and examples of the standards in action. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage actively by chatting with others, posing questions, which will be addressed either during the live webinar or as a follow-up in a form of a written paper. Participants will also receive certificates of participation to recognise their involvement. Additionally, attendees will benefit from access to recordings of the webinars, ensuring valuable information is readily available for reference and further study.

Background:
In 2023, the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) published the revised WFME Global Standards for Quality Improvement: Postgraduate Medical Education. These standards follow a principles-based approach, allowing institutions to develop their own contextually appropriate set of standards. They address various components of postgraduate medical education, including postgraduate doctor support, curriculum models, assessment systems, mission and values, teachers and clinical supervisors, education and training resources, quality improvement, governance, and administration.

This webinar aims to engage anyone interested in the field of postgraduate medical education, including:

Professor Janet Grant PhD, FBPsS, FRCGP (hon), FRCP (hon), MRCR (hon) is an educational psychologist and WFME special adviser. She is Academic Director of CenMEDIC (the Centre for Medical Education in Context) in London. She is Honorary Professor in University College London Medical School Centre for International Medical Education Collaborations (CIMEC), and Emeritus Professor of Education in Medicine at the Open University in the UK. Her interests are in policy research in medical education, regulation, educational development, continuing professional development and curriculum.

Professor Kadambari Dharanipragada is a distinguished medical professional specializing in surgery. After obtaining an M.B.B.S., Professor Dharanipragada pursued an M.S. in Surgery, further enhancing expertise with a FAIMER and Keele Master’s in Health Profession Education, focusing on assessment and accreditation.
Currently, Professor Dharanipragada serves as a Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, India. With a particular interest in breast oncology and surgery, as well as medical education, Professor Dharanipragada has made significant contributions to both fields. The scholarly output includes 75 publications, three book chapters on breast surgery, and authorship of a book on medical education.

Dr John Norcini is Research Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Upstate Medical University and a Fellow of Presence (a Center at Stanford Medical School). Previously, Dr Norcini held positions at FAIMER and the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr Norcini has more than 200 publications, lectured and taught in more than 45 countries, and is on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed journals. Dr Norcini is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK) and the Academy of Medical Educators and has received numerous awards including the Karolinska Prize for Research in Medical Education and the Hubbard Award.

Once you finalise registration for the webinar and make the payment, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to a Zoom registration site. It is important that you access the Zoom link and complete the brief Zoom registration form at your earliest convenience. Once your registration has been submitted and approved by the WFME office, Zoom will automatically send you an email containing the access link for the meeting.
All participants are encouraged to access the Zoom link 10 minutes before the webinar start.

Important notice:
When filling the Zoom registration form, please use the same name and email address as in your registration email. Failure to do so may result in restricted access to the Zoom session. Thank you for your understanding!
In case you need to register more than one participant, please register each participant individually.
You will receive the invoice for your payment once your Zoom registration is completed and approved by the WFME Office. If you have already completed the registration process and have not yet received the invoice, please contact the WFME Office at admin@wfme.org.
For webinar cancellation by participant, the deadline to receive a refund for a webinar is five business days before the webinar. Registration cancellations received prior to the deadline may be eligible to receive a refund less a 5 USD service fee to cover our costs.
Cancellations received after the stated deadline will not be eligible for a refund. Refunds will not be available for registrants who choose not to attend an event.
Cancellations will be accepted via e-mail at admin@wfme.org and must be received by the stated cancellation deadline. All refund requests must be made by the attendee or credit card holder. Refund requests must include the name of the attendee, transaction number, and webinar title. Refunds will be credited back to the original credit card used for payment.
These above policies apply to all WFME organised webinars unless otherwise noted in the corresponding webinar information.
The WFME reserves the right to cancel a webinar due to low enrolment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. If the WFME cancels a webinar, registrants will be offered a full refund. Should circumstances arise that result in the postponement of a webinar, registrants will have the option to either receive a full refund or transfer registration to the same event at the new or an alternative webinar.
