WFME World Conference 2025 is Patients Included™

WFME World Conference 2025 is Patients Included™

We are proud to announce that the WFME World Conference 2025 holds the Patients Included designation, reflecting our commitment to valuing patients as experts in their own health experiences. Their voices will be valued and respected throughout the event.

Our conference theme, Health for All – Through Quality Medical Education, brings together a diverse community—including patients, carers, researchers, education leaders, curriculum developers, accreditors, medics, educators, students, trainees—everyone passionate about shaping the future of healthcare.

Using the Patients Included Charter

To make patient experiences central and meaningful, WFME has adopted the Patients Included™ conference charter  as a guide during planning.  This ensures that patients are not only included but empowered to actively contribute without exploitation.

What We’re Doing for Patients and Carers

Here are the steps we’re taking to ensure the WFME World Conference 2025 is accessible, equitable and meaningful for patient and carer participants.

1. Active Participation in Planning

Patients and caregivers with relevant experience have been involved in shaping the event.  They were encouraged to participate in the event as speakers and panellists by submitting an abstract (and patient engagement is one of our abstract submission tracks). Thai patient Keerati Kaewrak, an AI & Machine Learning Researcher at King Mongut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL), Thailand, will speak during the panel Imagining Medical Education of the Future: Training Physicians for the 21st Century, on Sunday 25 May 2025.

2. Financial Support and Scholarships

  • Payment is provided to patients and carers who contribute as speakers, panellists, or hosts, in line with WFME’s payment policy.
  • Travel and accommodation expenses are covered for programme participants.
  • Two scholarships have been allocated, ensuring registration, travel, and accommodation for selected patient and carer delegates, with expenses paid in advance.
  • Patients and carers can purchase tickets to the conference at a reduced registration fee.

3. Accessibility for All

The disability requirements of participants are accommodated. All applicable sessions, breakouts, ancillary meetings, and other programme elements are open to patient delegates.

The venue for the WFME World Conference 2025 is the Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre, Pathum Wan, Bangkok, 10330, Thailand. Many of Centara properties offer specially adapted bedrooms, hotel facilities, lifts, wheelchair ramps, and staff on hand to assist guests with disabilities. The guide to facilities available can be found here:

During the conference there will be provision for wheelchair access to conference rooms and empty front row spaces for wheelchair users.

Although the WFME World Conference 2025 is an in-person event only, remote followers will be able to keep up to date through our social media channels and abstracts/summaries of the proceedings will be published after the event.
